Zimbabwe won the toss and surprisingly elected to bat first. The pitch looked like heaven for batting and pitch report also mentioned same thing. But Cremer’s decision turned out very effective as India lost their 3 wickets early in the powerplay. After the first 6 overs India scored just 29 runs with the loss of 3 wickets. K Jadhav and Rayudu steadied the innings and added 49 runs together. Just when it was time to open up their arms to lift the run rate Rayudu lost his wicket. MS Dhoni joined K Jadhav but couldn’t last longer he got bowled out at 9(13). When Dhoni left India were struggling at 93/5 in 16.2 overs. But thanks to K Jadhav and Axar Patel who did some firework in the end and gave India a respectable total of 138/6.

But Axar Patel broke this crucial partnership and brought India back into the game. Zimbabwe started losing wickets at regular interval. Barinder Sran had the ball to bowl the last over. The match was not over yet. Maruma the man for Zimbabwe started pulling things back for Zimbabwe. He hit 6 off very first ball. The equation 15 runs in 5 balls. Then comes a wide and then high full toss, which was a no ball, was hammered for six. The equation became 9 runs in 4 balls. Barinder Sran came back and bowled two very good deliveries. The equation was 8 runs in 2 balls. Chigumbura hit a boundary by stepping out. Match was on with 4 needed in 1 ball. But it was India who held nerves and stayed calm. Barinder bowled a full toss ball and Chigumbara found the fielder. The ball went straight in the hands of Y chahal. India won eventually by 3 runs. It was a breathtaking match.
