On Tuesday, Black Caps kept their victorious journey against Pakistan and defeated Afridi led army by 22 runs. Kane Williamson’s decision to bat first contributed much to kiwi’s success. New Zealand scored 180 and fought well to restrict Pakistan to 158.
Guptill’s inning was spectacular, his superb 80 off 48 balls was entertaining too. Other batsmen who fought well against Pakistan’s bowling attack were Corey Anderson (runs 21 off 14 balls) & Ross Taylor (36 runs off 23 balls). Pak opener Sharjeel (47 off 25 balls) ruthlessly attacked New Zealand bowling but Pak’s other batsmen failed to get runs going after the departure of Sharjeel. Bowling of Milne, Sodhi and Santner made Pak did not chase down big target of 180.
New Zealand registered a hat-trick of wins and has qualified for the Semi-final.
