Recently the officials of the ISL has announced that two new franchise Bengaluru and Jamshedpur FC are going to join the tournament. Due to expansion in the competitive teams, the tournament will total 5 months. The last 3 season of the tournament run till 3 months.  In the previous season, the final battle for the ISL 2016-17 title was between ATK  and  Kerala Blasters. In the final match, ATK defeated Kerala Blasters by penalties.
