Bangladesh Premier League Teams ignores local players

Bangladeshi players who have given their name for the upcoming 5th season of the BPL. Bangladeshi franchise ignored domestic talent for the upcoming BPL5. The BPL player draft holds on 16 September 2017. In the player draft, the Bangladeshi franchisee’s inclination was towards to overseas players. The BPL local players are suffering from this issue because the BPL managers made some changes in the team’s rules and regulations.

As per the new rules and regulation, a team can include 5 oversea instead of 4 players. If this law will continue with the tournament then it will be very difficult to provide an opportunity to local players. The main goal of BPL to find out local talent and mold them into more excellent to play for the international players.

In the BPL player draft total seven franchises were involved but no one picked players like Naeem Islam, Sohrawardy Shuvo, Shamsur Rahman, Junaeed Siddiquee, Enamul Haque Jr, Jubair Hossain, Asif Ahmed, Abdul Mazid, Marshal Ayub, Nazmul Milon, Monir Hossain, Shahadat Hossain, Saikat Ali, Hasanuzzaman and Sanjit Saha.

The BPL players draft official authority announced that in the player draft, their main inclination was towards to find most Bangladeshi local talented players. They preferred to include many youngsters and local players. The franchise included at least five players from the Bangladesh Under-19 team in all competitions for the BPL 5 title.

In the player draft, All-rounder Afif Hossain who made their debut in the BPL 4. He performed outstandingly in the previous season?. He and  Saif Hasan who was the under 19 captain is picked by the Khulna Titans from grade ‘C’ with the price of 1,200,000. During the player draft total, 7 franchises are involved but no one could cross the quota of 13 local cricketers. The entire franchise bought totally 79 local cricketers while in the previous season players draft total 86 local players were bought by the franchise.
