After being impressive in the pool matches, India’s Geeta Phogat finally won a Bronze medal in 58kg category of Asian Wrestling Championship held in Doha. She finally won hearts of many Indians from this impressive match. So Finally Bronze medal Geeta Phogat AWC-2015..

The Indian, who had earlier lost out to Kaori Icho of Japan in the pool ¼ final came back strong in her bronze medal play off against Thi Loan Nguyen of Vietnam. Geeta managed to earn 5 classification points in the match and also came out with four technical points. Her opponent could not get off the mark and Geeta Phogat went on to win convincingly. After being dominant over her opponent.

Icho, who was the only wrestler in the category who defeated Geeta, and later went on to win the gold by defeating Aisuluu Tynybekova of Kyrgyzstan. Kazakhstan’s Aiym Abdildina also won bronze alongside Geeta. Phogat also won a gold medal in the Wrestling FILA Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament that concluded at Almaty, Kazakhstan in April 2012. She has undergone rigorous training at the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, (NSNIS), Patiala, under the guidance of chief coach O.P. Yadav and foreign expert Ryan Dobo.

Geeta was drawn against nine time world Champion, Japanese grappler Kaori Icho and lost to her in the opening round 10-0. With Icho qualifying for the finals, Geeta was given a chance to contest in the repechage for the bronze medal. She unfortunately lost 10-0 to her repechage opponent Elif Yesilirmak of Turkey to crash out of the tournament in Las Vegas, USA.
