Former Australia pacer Jason Gillespie has stepped up his criticism of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), revealing that the organisation still owes him thousands of dollars nearly two years after his departure as Pakistan’s Test head coach.
Gillespie, who coached Pakistan’s red-ball team from April to December 2024, made the shocking disclosure in a recent interview.
“The PCB still owes me thousands of dollars, but I was never going to be a yes man,” he declared.
“I wasn’t going to compromise on my principles I never have throughout my career.”
He continued to speak openly about the PCB’s mismanagement, saying his role was gradually reduced from managing the Test team and player development to having “absolutely no role in anything.”
Gillespie also blamed Aaqib Javed for disrespect, saying that he was totally disrespected and undermined.
“The whole experience just deflated me and put me off coaching. It affected me mentally, doubting myself and left me thinking whether I still wanted to be involved in the sport,” he added.

His criticism comes amid major PCB changes, including the removal of Sarfaraz Ahmed as head coach and the mid-series recall of seven players.
Gillespie’s comments have once again exposed the deep rot in Pakistan cricket and highlighted that the issues go beyond the field. His comments have come at a time when Pakistan cricket is in crisis after their disastrous show in their ongoing Test series against England.
Pakistan will play England in the 3rd Test of the three-match series on September 9 at Edgbaston Stadium in Birmingham. The home team have already won the series 2-0.
