India was represented at the meeting by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Vice President Rajeev Shukla.

As per sources, the result is a major achievement for Naqvi and an important indication of Pakistan’s growing influence within the ACC.

Apart from the election, several other important matters were also discussed during the annual general meeting, including preparations for next year’s Asia Cup in Bangladesh, with three venues, Sylhet, Mirpur, and Chattogram, proposed to host the tournament.

The ACC’s annual budget was also discussed at the meeting, along with preparations and arrangements for the Women’s Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in Dubai.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board has also been included among the eligible boards for the ACC presidency. Previously, the ACC presidency was shared among Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and India.

At its annual meeting in Thailand, the ACC also approved new committees for governance, administration, cricket development, competitions, and finance.

UAE Cricket Board Vice President Khalid Al Zarooni was elected ACC Vice President, while the Executive Board for 2026–2028 was also elected.
