Pakistan, India placed in same group as Asia Cup 2025 schedule revealed

Arch-rivals Pakistan and India have been drawn into the same group (Group A) as the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Saturday announced the schedule for the Men’s Asia Cup 2025, which is set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28 with the high-stakes clash between the Asian giants scheduled for September 14.

The dates of the 17th edition of the continental tournament were announced by the President of ACC and chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Mohsin Naqvi.  

According to the Asia Cup 2025 schedule, the competition will be played in a T20I format, taking into account the upcoming T20 World Cup.

This year marks the first time the event will feature a total of eight teams divided into two groups. Alongside Pakistan and India, Group A consists of the UAE and Oman. Group B comprises Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong.

The tournament starts on September 9 with a curtain-raiser between Afghanistan and Hong Kong.

Pakistan will kick off its campaign on September 12 against Oman, following a high-voltage clash versus arch-rivals India on September 14. And then taking on hosts UAE in their remaining group-stage match.

After the group stage, the top two teams from each pool will progress to the Super Four. If Pakistan and India qualify, they will face each other again in the Asia Cup 2025 on September 21.

The top two teams from the Super Four Stage will advance to the final, set to be played on September 28.

11 September: Bangladesh vs Hong Kong

12 September: Pakistan vs Oman

13 September: Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka

14 September: India vs Pakistan

15 September: UAE vs Oman

15 September: Sri Lanka vs Hong Kong

16 September: Bangladesh vs Afghanistan

17 September: Pakistan vs UAE

18 September: Sri Lanka vs Afghanistan

19 September: India vs Oman

Super Four Stage:

September 20: B1 vs B2

September 21: A1 vs A2

September 23: A2 vs B1

September 24: A1 vs B2

September 25: A2 vs B2

September 26: A1 vs B1

Final: September 28
