Pakistan T20I vice-captain Shadab Khan is unlikely to feature in the upcoming ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to his rehabilitation after shoulder surgery earlier this month.
At the start of July 2025, Shadab underwent surgical intervention in the United Kingdom, following the significant aggravation of a longstanding shoulder injury. The persistent issue had already resulted in his exclusion from Pakistan’s recently concluded T20I series against Bangladesh.
According to media reports, Shadab Khan requires a minimum of three months to regain complete fitness, meaning he is highly unlikely to play cricket until October and will remain unavailable for the Asia Cup 2025, which is scheduled to commence on 9 September 2025.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not named a vice-captain following his surgery in the Bangladesh series.
